Ahmedabad : One more criminal case has been filed in Gujarat High Court against senior IPS officer D.G. Vanzara, who is under judicial custody in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter and the subsequent killing of his wife Kauser Bi cases.
In his petition, Shabbir Jamal has alleged that the Vanzara-led encounter in which his brother Sadiq Jamal was done to death was a staged one, reports the Urdu daily Hindustan Express from New Delhi Friday.
Advocate Mukul Sinha, who filed the petition on behalf of the petitioner, said Sadiq Jamal was killed in an encounter on January 13, 2003 for he was said to have been on a mission to eliminate chief minister Narendra Modi.
The petitioner appeals to the court to issue orders for legal action against then Joint Commissioner P.P. Pandey and DIG Vanzara. It also seeks exhumation of the dead body of Sadiq Jamal for post mortem.
