Lahore : Pakistan batsman Mohammed Yousuf said that it was not only the batsmen but bowlers also, who were equally responsible for the team's first-round exit from the World Cup, it was reported by the Pakistan media here Saturday.
"Though the batsmen's performance was not at par but a target of 131 set against Ireland was not easy on that kind of pitch. If our bowlers had bowled fairly well that was an impossible task to achieve (for Ireland)," Yousuf was quoted as saying by the Dawn.
Former captain Inzamam-ul-Haq earlier said that the performance of the batsmen was not exceptional in the World Cup in the West Indies.
Yousuf was hopeful that Pakistan would show better results against Sri Lanka in a three-match series in Abu Dhabi starting May 18.
He also said the players are training hard and are well prepared to meet the challenge of Sri Lanka, who finished runners-up in the World Cup.
