On May 8, the poll panel had ordered the BJP to condemn the CD since it claimed that the party per se was not involved in its production.

The BJP on April 4 had released the controversial compact disc in which Muslims had been denigrated.

A statement issued by BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar said: "The party has no hesitation in doing so (condemning the CD). In consonance with its stand that the party had suo motu taken before notice was issued by the Election Commission and the stand taken by it before the Election Commission, the party categorically declares that it does not approve the contents of the said CD. It strongly condemns the same."

The BJP has, however, maintained that it was not directly responsible for the production of the CD, saying it has stood by this position from the beginning.
