Mumbai : A domestic help of Pramod Mahajan identified his brother Pravin Mahajan in a court here Friday as one who fatally shot at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader last year.
Mahesh Wankhede, the servant who is a key prosecution witness, also identified empty bullet shells used in the crime and said he had heard the "bullet sounds" when the senior BJP leader was shot at on the morning of April 22, 2006 at his Worli residence in south Mumbai.
He told the court that he was in the bedroom at that time but rushed when he heard the gunshots to find Pramod Mahajan lying injured while Pravin was attempting to shoot at him again.
The court adjourned the case till May 22.
Earlier, the slain leader's wife Rekha and brother-in-law Gopinath Munde, also a senior BJP leader, had in their testimonies pointed to Pravin Mahajan.
Police have charged that following a heated argument with his brother, Pravin had fired three bullets at him. He then went to a police station and surrendered.
After battling for life at the Hinduja Hospital here, Pramod succumbed to his injuries May 3.
