Police hunt for soldiers charged with rape in Kashmir

Jammu : Jammu and Kashmir Police have launched a massive hunt for two soldiers of the Territorial Army absconding after allegedly assaulting a 10th class female student in the forests of Rajouri district of the state.

According to police, Parveena, the victim, has lodged a complaint in Chingus police station that she was waylaid by two soldiers in a dense jungle while she was grazing cattle there a week ago.

She did not share her agony with anyone for about a week. But then she gathered the courage to bring the crime to the notice of the police.

The police have got her medical examination conducted and registered a case against the accused soldiers, identified as Mohammad Sagir and Mohammad Bashir.

Senior Superintendent of Police in Rajouri Farooq Khan said the police were looking for the accused.
