Jalandhar : Gurmeet Nagra, an upcoming Punjabi singer, was Friday nabbed by the Jalandhar police for possessing opium.
Gurmeet and an accomplice were caught by police when he was trying to deliver a consignment of 5 kg of opium.
The consignment had come from drug smugglers in Madhya Pradesh.
The singer, who released his first music album 'Tera Nakhra' last year, was planning another album.
"I did not have enough money to get the new album released. Someone told me about this illegal trade and I was lured into making quick money," Gurmeet told reporters here.
Police officials said that the artiste had admitted to selling 10 kg of opium in Punjab in last couple of months.
