SBI records over Rs.45 bn profit for 2006-07

Kolkata : The State Bank of India (SBI) recorded a net profit of Rs.45.41 billion (Rs.4,541.31 crore) in the financial year 2007-07, the company announced Saturday.

SBI Chairman O.P. Bhatt told a press conference that the net profit at Rs.45.41 billion was marginally higher than the Rs. 44.06 billion (Rs.4406.67 crore) recorded the year before largely due to additional provision for taxes and loan losses.

The divided declared was 140 percent (Rs.14 per share).

The bank plans to enter into areas of merchant acquisition, payment solutions, general insurance, financial planning, wealth management and rural business.
