Kolkata, May 18 (IANS) West Bengal sounded a security alert Friday following a bomb blast in Hyderabad’s historic Mecca Masjid with police being asked to keep a close watch on sensitive areas.
West Bengal Inspector General of Police (law and order) Raj Kanojia Friday said all state police stations have been asked to monitor the overall situation.
“The moment we came to know about the blast we sounded an alert in all district police stations. We have also asked police to keep a close watch on certain pockets to control any tension in the state,” Kanojia said.
The blast in the Mecca Masjid killed six people and wounded 35.
