Kabul : Afghan and international troops killed 30 Taliban insurgents in a conflict in the central Ghazni province on Sunday morning, provincial police chief Alishah Ahmadzai said.
The conflict between Afghan troops and Taliban militants occurred in the border areas of Muqar and Qarabagh districts, Ahmadzai said.
At least 18 rebels were wounded and 11 arrested, he said, adding international forces provided air support. One Afghan soldier was injured.
Among the detainees is a regional Taliban commander Mullah Habibullah, Ahmadzai said.
Due to rising Taliban-linked insurgency, over 1,600 persons, mostly Taliban militants, have been killed in Afghanistan this year.
