`Autonomy only viable solution for Kashmir issue’: Omar Abdullah

Rajouri: Lambasting the parties playing regional cards and raising slogans of self rule to propagate their political interests, National Conference president and Member Parliament Mr. Omar Abdullah today said that restoration of autonomy in the state is the only viable solution for resolving Kashmir issue.

 

Addressing a public rally here at Behrote area of Rajouri, Mr. Omar Abdullah said his party will not allow division of the state as being propagated by some vested interests. He said those advocating self rule formula is actually talking of dividing Jammu and Kashmir State on regional basis.

 

He said that the autonomy document ‘to our mind’ is acceptable to all as it also ensures internal autonomy  for equitable development of all the three regions including neglected far-flung areas of the state.

 

“This is evident as the document has been passed and adopted by the state assembly�, he said adding that borrowed formulas being projected by some parties has failed to generate much interest among the general masses.

 

He said that National Conference wants Jammu and Kashmir to remain as a single entity and it will never allow division on the basis of ethnical or regional identity. He said “we have been always in favour of equal share for all in the matters of development for sustained economic growth of the state’.

 

Omar said that NC is for simultaneous development in all areas to remove the sense of alienation from the minds of people and added that the prosperity of the state lies only in uniform development of all the regions.

 

Referring to the increasing unemployment problem in the state, NC president said that last four years have witnessed all promises of providing employment to one member of each family falling flat.

 

Omar said his party has never attempted hoodwinking by making false promises with people and added “NC believes that the problem of unemployment could be solved only by chalking out a comprehensive policy for tapping the existing potential in all sectors�. 

 

Other who spoke on the occasion included, Provincial president Ajay Sadhotra, MLC Devender Singh Rana, MLAs Mohammad Aslam, Rashpal Singh, former member parliament Choudhary Talib Hussain Bashir Ahmed Wani and Ashraf Mirza.
