Marathon man Ashis Roy reaches another landmark

New York : Septuagenarian Ashis Roy, who made an Asian record of highest marathons run in his age group, has added another feather to his cap when he completed 76th marathon.

Roy, who will be 75 on June 1, 2007, successfully ran the Delaware Marathon at Wilmington, the US on Sunday. He completed the run in 5 hours 42 minutes in extremely cold weather with temperatures dropping to 10 degree Celsius and strong winds at 10-20 miles per hour.

There were 500 runners for the full marathon and the Indian was the second oldest man in the race.

Amazed spectators and officials praised Roy for running three marathons in a span of eight weeks.

Roy said he was planning to run 80 marathons by the end of the year.
