Chennai : At least 25 people were feared dead and a dozen seriously injured when the wall of a building collapsed in a Tamil Nadu town Wednesday night.
The accident took place at 8.00 p.m. at the building, housing a liquor shop, in Angeripalayam, a small town on the outskirts of the textile hub of Tirupur, 495 km from here.
Though officials refused to confirm the toll, police sources said at least 20 bodies were taken to the district hospital in Coimbatore. The injured were rushed to a neighbourhood hospital.
Police said rescue efforts were on and there could be people trapped under the debris.
Investigations were on into the cause of the wall collapse.
