Reliance lowers call tariffs to Gulf by 36 percent

New Delhi : One of India's leading mobile service providers Reliance Communications Wednesday announced a drop in the calling rates to Gulf countries by 36 percent.

Reliance customers would now be able to call any country in the Gulf region at Rs.6.99 per minute and this offer would be available with its calling card worth Rs.1,900.

This announcement by Reliance Communications comes at a time when its rival Bharti Airtel announced slashing of its call charges to the US and Canada by 39 percent.

Earlier, the Anil Ambani group company had announced reduction in roaming tariff by as much as 70 percent, the lowest in the industry so far.

"The series of initiatives undertaken recently would further enhance RCOM's (Reliance Communications) leadership position and value for our many million stakeholders," S.P. Shukla, president (personal business), Reliance Communications, said in a statement.
