New Delhi/Chandigarh : An Indian Army helicopter is missing in Himachal Pradesh and is feared to have crashed, officials said Thursday. There has been no word on the fate of its two pilots.
The Army Aviation Corps' Cheetah helicopter – used for ferrying personnel and supplies – was headed for Jalandhar in Punjab. It lost contact with the air traffic control (ATC) at around 10.50 a.m., said a defence official in New Delhi.
According to another official in Chandigarh, the aircraft crashed near Karcham in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh.
Rescue teams were despatched to the area where the helicopter was suspected to have crashed, the officials said.
