Ranchi : Jharkhand Police have recovered arms, incriminating documents and explosives among other things from Maoist rebel hideouts.
"During raid on Maoist hideouts in Latehar district, police recovered arms, explosives, money, details of levy which are demanded by the Maoists from people, incriminating documents and other things," Additional Director Police, G.S. Rath told IANS.
Police raided the Maoist hideout in Latehar district, 130 km from state capital Ranchi, Thursday night on the basis of information given by an arrested Maoist zonal commander Abhishek. Police took him to Latehar, where he guided them to the Maoist den.
Police recovered Rs 200,000 in cash, 100 detonators, 15 damaged rifles, 5000 cartridges, Maoist literature, gelatine sticks, 10 advanced weapons like carbine guns, pistols and other things.
The raid was a joint operation of the state police and paramilitary forces. Raids are also being conducted at other places in the state on the basis of information given by arrested Maoist rebels.
Maoist rebels are active in 16 of the 22 districts of the state. Nearly 730 people including 290 security personnel have been killed in last six years in Maoist related violence.
