Shimla : Counting was underway Friday for civic polls in this popular hill town where the Congress has always held sway.
Results for the Shimla municipal elections are expected by the afternoon. The votes are being counted manually as electronic machines were not used during the elections Wednesday, which saw 62 percent of voters cast their ballot.
There are 25 seats in the house. Though the Congress has held on to power, a close fight is expected this time with archrival Bharatya Janata Party (BJP). The Communist Party of India-Marxist also made its presence felt by contesting a few seats.
