New Delhi : Sports goods major Adidas Friday moved the Monopolies and Restrictive Trade Practices Commission (MRTPC) saying its exclusive right to use the name of brand ambassador Sachin Tendulkar had been violated by rival brand Nike.
"MRTPC has issued notices to the respondents," Adidas said in a statement. It did not give details beyond saying the matter was pending before the commission.
Tendulkar and Adidas have had an association for many years. Nike launched its cricket range comprising T-shirts featuring Tendulkar's name and jersey number in 2006.
"We look forward to resolving the issue speedily," Adidas said.
