BEL Chairman and Managing Director V.V.R. Sastry and General Manager (Hyderabad) I.V. Sarma showed the minister around the electronic assembly, testing and antenna test facilities of the plant.

Electronic warfare systems for the Indian Army and India Navy were also demonstrated, prompting Singh to compliment the unit for the strong capabilities it had built up in the field since its inception in 1986.

BEL's Hyderabad unit specialises in the manufacture of cutting edge electronic warfare equipment that is a force multiplier for all three arms of the Indian defence forces.

The equipment is supplied to the armed forces for various platforms and is rugged enough to withstand the harsh environment in which it is required to operate.

BEL, a 53-year-old company under the defence ministry, is a multi-unit, multi-product, multi-technology enterprise with its manufacturing and marketing network spread across the country. Its corporate office and largest unit is located at Bangalore.

BEL's wide range of defence products includes communication equipment, command and control systems, radars and sonars, thermal imaging products, electronic warfare systems, tank electronics, simulators, and avionics systems.
