New York : Baseball legend Jackie Robinson once wrote a critical letter to former US president Dwight Eisenhower slamming him for being indecisive on the civil rights issue, reveals Michael Long's book "First Class Citizenship".

The book features a note that Robinson wrote after Eisenhower told the 1958 Summit Leadership Meet of Negro Leaders that blacks must have patience, reports pagesix.com.

He wrote: "On hearing you say this, I felt like standing up and saying, 'Oh, no! Not again. We have been the most patient of all people. When you said we must have self-respect, I wondered how we could have self-respect and remain patient considering the treatment accorded us."

Robinson was the first black player to play in the Major League.
