The victims, members of the same family, were working in their paddy fields at Wullerhama village, 90 km from here, when the tragedy struck.

"The four people died immediately. The victims were identified as Ghulam Mustaffa, Nissar Ahmad Mir, Abid Hussain and Fida Hussain. Those injured – Ali Muhammad Balti and Ali Muhammad Mir – were evacuated to hospital for treatment," a police official told IANS here.

The heavy cloudburst also caused flooding in the area, which delayed rescue and relief operations.

Kashmir has been witnessing freakish weather in the past 10 days with temperatures dropping in the afternoons and heavy overcast skies and intermittent rains.

There have been heavy storms too that have taken five lives and caused widespread damage to orchards and buildings.

The upper reaches of the state also witnessed mild snowfall leading to a drop in temperatures, forcing people to wear woollens in mornings and evenings.
