Indian pilgrims injured in Nepal bus accident

Kathmandu : Over two dozen Indian pilgrims from Gujarat were injured, three of them critically, when a bus they were in skidded off a road in western Nepal.

The bus (Indian registration number GJ14T-710) was carrying people from the state of Gujarat Monday when it met with the accident at Ghanshikuwa Kamalabari in Tanahun district, The Himalayan Times reported Tuesday.

The bus was carrying 56 passengers on a scheduled tour of Nepal's pilgrim sites and was heading for Pokhara city when it fell nearly 10 metres off the Prithvi Highway.

While over 20 injured were discharged after first aid, three seriously wounded were hospitalized. They have been identified as Panubhai, 50, of Vadodara, Amlal Lalabhai, 64, and Harshmukh A. Dorjee, 53, the Naya Patrika said Tuesday.

They have been admitted to the Gandaki regional hospital, it said.

Police have detained the driver of the bus, Gujarat resident Mahendra Singh, for questioning.
