Chennai : For the first time, an Indian video gaming and developers team will participate in the Edinburgh International Games Festival.
The game fest usually takes place between June and August every year. This year will be its fifth edition.
The team from Chennai, calling itself Phoenix, is a group of students from the College of Arts, Animation and Technology here.
Assisted by a student programmer from Scotland, the Indians have developed a video game called 'Evolution of Man'. The British Council supports the Indian team.
The game goes through the stages of human evolution, and on the console, it begins with skills like throwing a stone, a catapult, climbing a tree, lighting a fire – the basics for survival. The winner graduates to the second stage of skills and so on, until man and his gun reign supreme.
Designing the game is Pradeep, and concept writer is Ankit. Siddharth is the chief programmer and Mohammed, a Scottish student ambassador from the University of Abertay, is the assistant programmer.
But as it is a competition entry, the details are secret yet.
