Hamburg : EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana speaking Tuesday on the fringes of the Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) in Hamburg confirmed he would meet as scheduled on May 31 with Iran's chief nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani.
The venue for the talks was likely to be Madrid, Solana told reporters. No other details of the talks were given.
Iranian foreign ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini had said in Tehran Sunday that both sides had agreed to postpone Thursday's meeting, but later in the day said it would go ahead as scheduled.
Talks between the European Union and Iran are aimed at resolving the international dispute over Iran's nuclear programme. Iran faces UN sanctions over its failure to halt uranium enrichment, which Western nations say is geared towards developing nuclear weapons.
