Patna : In a rare instance of its kind, winners were decided in two Bihar civic body wards by toss of coin after four candidates polled the same number of votes.
The bizarre method was resorted to after two candidates each finished at par in Motihari and Chapra, Election Commission official Raghuvansh Kumar Sinha said here.
Motihari is the headquarters of East Champaran district bordering Nepal, 200 km from Patna. Chapra in Saran district is located 150 km from Patna.
Sinha said a total of 2,864 wards saw elections across the state. He added that the contestants in the two places where coins were tossed to decide the winner accepted the outcome.
