In the meeting, Solana called for more frequent political dialogue
with India, EU diplomatic sources told INEPNEXT news agency.

Solana and Mukherjee met at the sidelines of a meeting of EU and Asian foreign ministers in Hamburg.

EU-India free trade agreement, Indo-Pakistan ties and Iran's nuclear
issue were also discussed during the meeting.

Brussels  wants New Delhi to support  its diplomatic initiative to
resolve Iran's nuclear issue.

Solana also had a separate meeting with Pakistani foreign minister
Khurshid Kasuri and discussed  Indo-Pakistan ties and the West's standoff with Iran.

Solana will not attend the EU-India foreign ministers' meeting in
Berlin on Thursday as he has to be in Madrid, Spain, for talks with Iran's top nuclear negotiator Ali Larijani.

Germany currently holds the rotating EU Presidency. Meanwhile, Mukherjee will be in Brussels Wednesday for a meeting with Indian ambassadors accredited to the 27-member  European bloc.
