Tendulkar back among top-20 batsmen in Tests

Dubai : Sachin Tendulkar is back into the top-20 of the batsmen's list at the 15th spot while captain Rahul Dravid is the highest rated Indian batsman in eighth place in the latest rankings released by the International Cricket Council (ICC) here Tuesday.

The Bangladesh series, which concluded this week, was a good one for the Indian bowlers as well, with Anil Kumble moving up to third place in the rankings and Zaheer Khan moving up five places to the 24th spot.

Tendulkar scored a century in both Tests, at Chittagong and Mirpur, compiling a total of 254 runs at an average of 127. This marks a significant return to form for Tendulkar (672 rating points) who moved up six places.

Australian captain Ricky Ponting is still the top batsman with 936 points and is followed by Pakistan's Mohammed Yousuf with 915.

England's Kevin Pietersen, placed third, has joined an exclusive club of Test players who have crossed the mark of 900 rating points with 909.

Following his double century during the second Test against the West Indies at Headingley, Pietersen became just the 21st batsman to achieve a rating in excess of 900 points.

Kumble with 730 points is now level with South Africa's Shaun Pollock and is just ahead of Shane Bond of New Zealand and Australia's Stuart Clark. Irfan Pathan may be out of Test cricket for a while but he is still at the 16th place with 618 points.

Muttiah Muralidaran is still on top of the rankings for Test bowlers, followed by Makhaya Ntini of South Africa with Kumble and Pollock joint third.
