New Delhi : Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Thursday chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs (CCPA) but did not discuss the crisis in Karnataka, indicating that a decision on revocation of President’s rule in the state may take a little longer.

Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said a pointed “No” in reply to a question on whether Karnataka came up for discussion at the CCPA.

Governor Rameshwar Thakur has sent a report on the political situation in the state and the cabinet could deliberate on the issue when it meets Friday, informed sources said.

Karnataka was put under President’s rule Oct 9, following the decision of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to pull out support from the coalition government led by Janata Dal-Secular’s (JD-S) H.D. Kumaraswamy.

But now that the JD-S has extended support to the BJP leader B.S. Yediyurappa, the two parties have been anxiously waiting for an invitation from the governor to form the government.

On Wednesday, a BJP delegation headed by L.K. Advani met the prime minister on the issue.
