In Egypt’s Red Sea resort of Sham El-Sheikh, Sheikh Mohammad will attend the International Energy Conference, slated for Thursday. The conference will gather ministers of foreign affairs and energy from Arab and European countries.

It will mull tendencies of supply and demand on the energy market in the Middle East as well as the prospects of alternative (renewable) energy.

In Istanbul, Sheikh Mohammad is expected to take part in the Second Expanded Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Iraq’s Neighbours on Friday and Saturday.

The meeting, which will deal with various aspects of the political process in Iraq, gains further importance from the fact that it coincides with the ongoing Turkish military build-up on the borders with Iraq. The First Expanded Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Iraq’s Neighbours was held in Sharm El-Sheikh last May.

On Monday, Sheikh Mohammad will head for Budapest for an official visit to Hungary in response to invitation from Hungarian Foreign Minister Kinga Goncz. He is scheduled to hold talks with senior leaders of the Hungarian government and inaugurate Kuwait’s embassy in Budapest.

The inauguration of the embassy crowns a long history of friendly relations between Kuwait and Hungary.

In Vienna, Sheikh Mohammad will hold talks with Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik on bilateral ties and issues of common concern. He is also scheduled to meet Austrian President Heinz Fischer and Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer as well as Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Mohamad ElBaradei.
