Swabi (Pakistan) : President Pervez Musharraf on Tuesday vowed to take the country forward towards the final phase of its transition to complete democracy and warned those trying to create obstacles in the process.
“Unfortunately, some people are trying to create obstacles in this transition,” President Musharraf said while inaugurating the 154 kilometer six-lane M-1 Motorway linking Islamabad with Peshawar.
The President said only a few months were left in the completion of the third phase in the transition towards democracy.
“We will not let anyone create any obstacle in the transition towards democracy,” the President said.
The President mentioned that in the first phase from 1999 to 2002, he was managing the affairs of the state while in the second five-year phase from 2002-2007, the parliament was fully functional and his role was confined to giving advice to the government.
