Jaipur : Officials of the Rajasthan government are not going to get unlimited cups of tea, coffee or cold drinks any more. They may drink and serve only according to rank. And there will be no cup of tea for anyone during a meeting unless it goes on for at least two hours.
The state government has put a cap on the tea and cold drink expenses of officials from this week.
“As per the orders, the state finance department has fixed a ceiling on office expenditure. Only the chief minister, chief secretary and ministers have been exempted from it,” official sources told IANS.
Senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officials of the category of additional chief secretary, head of revenue board and principal secretary finance have been allowed up to Rs.875 per month on tea, coffee and cold drinks for guests who come to meet them in the office.
For other principal secretaries, secretaries and equivalent, the monthly cap has been fixed at Rs.625, while for junior officials the limit is Rs.375.
In case an official exceeds the amount, he or she will have to pay out of pocket.
There is a special provision for extra expenses on tea for meetings held in the secretariat conference halls and committee rooms. But the meeting will have to be presided by an official of the rank of secretary and the meeting should continue for at least two hours.
