Srinagar : At least three intruding guerrillas were killed Thursday in two separatist infiltration bids across the line of control (LoC) that divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
Police sources said heavily armed groups of guerrillas tried to infiltrate into the Indian side of the LoC in north Kashmir’s Machil and Keran sectors in Kupwara district, over 120 km from here.
“Troops spotted suspicious movements in these sectors and challenged the infiltrating groups resulting in gunfights. The operations are still on,” a senior police officer said here.
Two guerrillas were killed in the Machil sector and one in the Keran sector.
