Kendrapada (Orissa), Nov 5 (IANS) Forest officials of Bhitarkanika National Park Monday rescued a 10-foot long female python from the house of a poacher inside the park area, official said.
The officials raided the house of Bruhaspati Parida at Batighar village in the Kendrapada district and found the python in his home, local forest officer Mahendra Parida said.
“Later, we released the python into the nearby mangrove forest,” he said.
Five months ago, officials had arrested 10 snake charmers, including two women in Kendrapada town, around 150 km from the state capital Bhubaneswar, for killing and smugglings snakes and other endangered reptiles and animals.
