Haj House inaugurated in Kerala

Calicut: Newly constructed Haj House was inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Kerala Mr. V. S. Achuthanandan. The building was recently completed at a cost of more than Rs. 5 crore.

Central Haj Committee gave Rs. 1.5 crore for the construction while State government pitched in with Rs. 1 crore and rest of the money was through public contribution, according to Mr. P. K. Kutty, Local Self-Government Minister of Kerala.

The land for the Haj House was also donated and it is situation near Calicut International Airport at Karipur. Four storied 72,000 sq ft facilty has a large prayer hall, living quarters and dining hall. It can accommodate 1,000 people.

Union Minister of State for External Affairs E. Ahamed was the chief guest at the function. Ministers, legislators and religious leaders were present at the inaugural function.
