With the cricket team’s flight to Mohali scheduled only for late afternoon, Dhoni accompanied Rudra Pratap Singh, Robin Uthappa, Murali Kartik and two team officials to the brand new shooting range located within the Assam Police battalion headquarters in the city.

“I must say Dhoni was good. He was right on target quite a few times,” Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, an Assam Police deputy inspector general and president of the Assam Rifle Shooting Association told IANS.

Dhoni has a passion for shooting and has visited five other shooting ranges, including one outside the country.

“Even Rudra Pratap Singh was good. He also proved himself to be a good marksman,” said Rajen Singh, another Assam Police official and a shooter himself.

Dhoni and his teammates fired .22 rifles, .22 pistols, .32 pistols and air pistols at all the three ranges from 10, 25 and 50 metres.

The Indian captain described the shooting range at Guwahati as “one of the better ranges in the country”, the officials boasted.

Several other Indian cricketers used the morning to visit the famous Kamakhya temple.

Pakistan players on their part were busy working out at the Assam Cricket Association gymnasium.
