Mohali : Following are the highlights of the second India-Pakistan One-Day International, which the Shoaib Malik’s team won by four wickets, here Thursday:
* Pakistan have won both their games against India at Mohali. They had defeated India by 7 wickets at this venue on 1.4.1999, according to statistician Rajesh Kumar.
* Pakistan’s total of 322 for six is their highest successful total while chasing by a visiting side in India, eclipsing their own total of 319 for 7 in reply to India’s 315 for six at Ahmedabad on 12.4.2005.
* India’s 321 for 9 is their highest innings total at Mohali, eclipsing their 319 for 6 against Zimbabwe on 10.3.2002.
* Overall, India’s aforesaid total is now the third best at Mohali, next only to Sri Lanka’s 339 for 4 against Pakistan on 24.5.1997 and Pakistan’s 322 for six against India on 8.11.2007.
* India’s 321 for 9 is their fourth highest against Pakistan.
* Pakistan’s 322 for 6 is the highest total for a team batting second at Mohali, eclipsing Australia’s 284 on 3.11.1996.
* The match aggregate of 643 for 15 is a new record at Mohali, eclipsing the 574 for 16 between India and Zimbabwe on 10.3.2002.
* Tendulkar, with his 404th ODI, has overtaken Sanath Jayasuriya’s tally of 403 games. Sachin has extended his record for most fifties (86) in ODIs.
* Sourav Ganguly (6) is without a half-century in his last 20 innings against Pakistan.
* Tendulkar, with his 99 against Pakistan at Mohali Nov.8, earned a dubious distinction. He now becomes first batsman to be dismissed on 99 on three occasions. His previous two instances being 99 against South Africa in the Future Cup at Belfast June 26 and against England in the NatWest series at Bristol Aug 24, both this year.
* Tendulkar has been dismissed in the 90s 15 times in ODIs. Grant Flower (Zimbabwe), Nathan Astle (New Zealand) and Aravinda de Silva (Sri Lanka) share the second spot with nine scores in the 90s.
* Tendulkar has extended his record for most 90s against Pakistan to 5. Aravinda de Silva (SL) and Rahul Dravid (India) have recorded three scores in the 90s against Pakistan. Tendulkar is now the fourth batsman to have played an innings of 99 against Pakistan in ODIs, joining West Indian Richie Richardson (99 not out at Sharjah on 15.11.1985), England’s Chris Broad (at The Oval, London, on 21.5.1987) and Rahul Dravid (at Karachi on 13.3.2004).
* In calendar year 2007, Tendulkar’s aggregate has reached 1,269 (avg. 47.00), including one century and 12 half-centuries in 30 matches. Only Matthew Hayden (Australia) has aggregated more runs than Tendulkar this year – 1,555 (avg.62.20) in 29 matches, including five centuries and six half-centuries.
* Tendulkar’s 99 is now the highest for India at Mohali, bettering Mohammad Azharuddin’s 94 against Australia on 3.11.1996.
* With Gautam Gambhir, Tendulkar put on 173 for the second wicket, which is a new partnership record for this wicket for India against Pakistan in India, eclipsing 129 between Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni at Ahmedabad on 12.4.2005.
* Harbhajan Singh’s 38 not out off 20 balls is his third best score in ODIs, next to his 46 against Australia at Visakhapatnam on 3.4.2001 and 41 not out against England at The Oval on 3.9.2004.
* Gautam Gambhir (57) posted his 7th half-century – his first against Pakistan.
* Gambhir completed 1,000 runs in ODIs. He now has 1,003 (ave.32.35) in 34 matches.
* 41 extras, including 31 wides, in an innings is a new record by Pakistan against India, eclipsing their 39 at Ahmedabad on 12.4.2005. Pakistan had conceded 23 wides against India at Peshawar on 19.3.2004.
* Pakistan, with 31 wides, earned a dubious distinction of conceding most wides in an ODI, eclipsing their 28 against Bangladesh at Northampton on 31.5.1999.
* 67 extras were recorded in the match, equalling the previous record in an India-Pakistan encounter. In the 2003-04 Lahore ODI also, 67 extras were registered in the match.
* Harbhajan (2/65), for the first time, has claimed two wickets in an innings against Pakistan.
* Younis Khan (117 off 110 balls) posted his first century against India, and his third overall in ODIs.
* Younis has recorded all his three centuries away from home.
* Younis’ previous highest against India was 81 off 98 balls at Rawalpindi on 11.2.2006.
