Jammu : National Conference president Omar Abdullah has strongly condemned the killing of party councilor from Srinagar Municipal Corporation Ghulam Nabi Wani by unidentified gunmen on Wednesday.
In a joint statement here Omar strongly condemned the killing and termed it as a barbaric act. He urged the concerned authorities to investigate the killing so that the killers can be brought to justice.
Omar, who was in Jammu, flew to Srinagar to condole the demise. The party president visited the house of the deceased councilor and expressed his sympathies with the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, a condolence meeting was held at the party headquarter here. Number of Party leaders including state secretary Sheikh Nazir Ahmed, provincial president Ajay Sadhotra, Ex-MLC Bashir Ahmed, MLA Sajad Ahmed Kichloo, MLC Davinder Singh Rana expressed their condolence to the bereaved family.
Condemning the broad day light murder of the councilor, the party leaders also came down heavily upon the state government for its failure to provide adequate security cover to the political leadership. (NAK)
