Bodies of 3 Indian workers sent from Dubai

Dubai : The bodies of three of the seven Indian workers, who were killed in an accident at a bridge construction site here last week have been sent to India, with the rest to follow soon.

“We sent three bodies Wednesday to the families in Tamil Nadu. We are going to send the rest of the bodies today,” N.M. Naushad, human resource director of the Wade Adams Contracting Company, which employed the workers, told IANS here Thursday.

The seven workers were killed when a crane hit the bridge under construction on Sufooh Road, near Jumeirah Marina Mall here last week, causing a wall to collapse. Authorities attributed the incident to human error.

Nineteen others were injured in the incident.

Those who died have been identified as Arumugham, Karthipan Thangam, Shahajan Shamsuddin, Arun Muezhi Govindan, Mathai Lagan (all from Tamil Nadu), C. Jagadish (from Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh) and Surendra Singh (from Patna, Bihar).

The company has announced lifetime salary of 20 years to the families of each of the deceased as compensation.
