Islamabad : Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has said that he will quit as army chief before Dec. 1, the government’s top lawyer said Thursday.
“The president has said that he will give up his uniform before Dec. 1,” Attorney General Malik Mohammad Qayyum told a news conference.
Qayyum said that the Supreme Court of Pakistan would decide on Musharraf’s re-election case next week.
Musharraf has promised that whenever the court decided to allow for the notification of the presidential results, he would take oath as a civilian president.
According to a report on Oct. 6 by the state-run APP news agency, Musharraf won the presidential election that day by a vast majority.
