Air Marshal P.V. Naik named IAF vice chief

New Delhi : Air Marshal P.V. Naik will be the new Indian Air Force (IAF) vice chief and will assume office Dec 31, it was announced here Monday.

Naik, currently the air officer commanding-in-chief (AOC-in-C) of the Allahabad-based Central Air Command, will succeed Air Marshal B.N. Gokhale, who is retiring.

Air Marshal P.P. Rajkumar, who heads the Port Blair-based Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC), will succeed Naik at the Central Air Command.

Air Marshal S. Radhakrishnan, currently senior air staff officer (SASO) at the Bangalore-based Training Command, will succeed Rajkumar.

Air Marshal P.K. Barbora, currently the AOC-in-C of the Shillong-based Eastern Air Command, will move to a similar position at the New Delhi-based Western Air Command on the retirement of the current incumbent, Air Marshal Padamjit Singh Ahluwalia.

Air Marshal S.K. Bhan, currently SASO at the Western Air Command, will succeed Barbora.

All the appointments will take effect Dec 31.
