The meeting, which began at 10.30 p.m., was held ahead of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s trip to Singapore early Tuesday.

According to sources, the cabinet is likely to recommend President’s rule again in the state.

The political situation in Karnataka took a sudden turn Monday after the Janata Dal-Secular decided against supporting a BJP-led ministry, contrary to its promise, resulting in the B.S. Yeddyurappa government resigning.
