Addressing the first meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Party in Parliament House Tuesday, Advani predicted the demise of communism in India very soon just as the communists went out of power in Europe in the 1980s.

Remarking on his recent visit to Nandigram, which has witnessed violent clashes between theCommunist Party of India-Marxist supporters and a rival anti-land acquisition group since January, Advani compared the CPI-M’s “takeover” of land in Nandigram to Islamic terrorism.

Parliamentary party deputy leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra quoted Advani as saying:”Just as in the 1990s Islamic terrorism rose all over the world, communist terrorism is rising in India now.”

“Nandigram will end communism in India,” Advani said according to Malhotra, who was briefing reporters on the party MPs’ meeting.

Former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajapayee, who was expected to attend the meet, failed to show up.
