Vienna : A group of Austrian, Swiss and Italian ski slopes have teamed up to create one of the world’s largest ski pass zones.
The new “Snowcard Gold” will give skiers access to 336 km of slopes, along with 69 lifts and mountain railways, according to the Tiroler Oberland Tourism Association in Nauders, Austria.
Along with the Nauders-Reschenpass region, participating areas include south Tyrol’s Schoeneben and Haideralm regions, Tyrol’s Silvretta-Arena and Ischgl regions and Switzerland’s Samnaun region.
These areas alone provide 214 km of slopes. The rest is provided by the glacier-skiing zones of Kaunertal and Fendels in Tyrol.
The Snowcard Gold can be purchased for periods of between four and 14 days. A four-day pass costs $197-229 (134.50-156.50 euros) depending on the time of season. A 10-day pass runs between 275.50-321.50 euros.
Discounts are available for senior citizens and children born between 1993 and 2002. The participating regions are all a maximum 60 minutes of driving time from each other.
