Patna : Bihar’s Champaran district, where Mahatma Gandhi launched his satyagraha movement against the British rule 90 years ago, will soon see a new university named after the apostle of non-violence.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made the announcement in Motihari in Champaran Tuesday.
“Such a university ought to have been set up here a long time ago,” Kumar said.
After his return from South Africa, Mahatma Gandhi chose to experiment with satyagraha in Champaran in 1917.
