Tehran : Iran Thursday confirmed that its chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili will meet European Union (EU) foreign policy chief Javier Solana Nov 30, according to the official news agency Irna.
The news agency said Jalili, who is the secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) of Iran, told reporters at the inaugural session of an international seminar on Iran’s nuclear programme that the meeting would be held in London.
The previous round of talks between Solana and Iran’s national security council official was held Oct 23 in Rome. Jalili’s immediate predecessor in the SNSC Ali Larijani had accompanied him during that meeting. Larijani had resigned from his post last month.
It is expected that Solana will report to the UN Security Council regarding Iran’s cooperation with International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) by the end of this month following the nuclear watchdog’s chief Mohamed ElBaradei’s report on the Islamic country’s nuclear programme.
Meanwhile, the international seminar on Iran’s nuclear programme and IAEA director general’s report started here Thursday.
A number of foreign scholars from various countries, including Australia, Cuba, Russia, New Zealand, Germany and Egypt, are participating in the seminar organised by the Iranian foreign ministry’s School of International Relations.
