Tehran : Iran Tuesday claimed to have built a new medium-range missile, Fars news agency reported.
Fars quoted Defence Minister Mostafa Mohammad Najjar as saying that the new missile named Ashura — an Islamic day of mourning to mark the death of third Shiite Imam Hussein — had a range of 2,000 km.
Iran already has Ghadr-1 and Shahab-3 missiles, which reportedly have a range between 1,300 and 2,000 km after upgrading and could reach any part of arch-enemy Israel.
