Several Congress members led by Bhupesh Baghel, deputy leader of the opposition, moved an adjournment motion, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of committing fraud in sealing a pact with the Infrastructure Leasing and Financial Services (IL&FS) over the road project.

Rajesh Munat, the minister of state for public works department, denied the charges. But the Congress members were not satisfied and raised slogans demanding the resignations of Chief Minister Raman Singh as well as Munat.

Speaker Prem Prakash Pandey suspended Baghel and 17 other Congress legislators from the assembly for the day when they came up to his chair, seeking the scrapping of the road project.
