ICL trophy unveiled

Chandigarh : The Indian Cricket League gave the public the first look at the glittering trophy that will be awarded to the winners of the ICL 20-20 Championship at a special function.

The captains of the six teams Brian Lara, Marvan Atapattu, Stuart Law, Inzamam ul Haq, Chris Cairns and Craig Mcmillan together unveiled the trophy at a press conference Thursday.

The 24-inch trophy, designed by Amit Pabuwal and his wife Kiran Pabuwal, is made out of gold and silver with traditional “Meenakari” carved out capturing the essence of the game. The trophy depicts vibrancy, freshness and new flavour.

Elaborating on the design of the trophy, Amit Pabuwal said, “The three cones represent three key aspects of cricket i.e. Batting, Bowling and Fielding, three results of the game Win, Lose and Tie and three types of players in the game Batsman, Bowler and Fielder .”

In the past, designer Pabuwal has made trophies for the Friendship Cup, ICC Twenty20 World Cup, Future Cup ( India-Australia) both one day and Twenty20 trophies, Future Cup (India-South Africa) , Indian Oil Cup for India- Pakistan ODI series and the Indian Oil India-Pakistan Test series. He is also credited with designing and constructing other finest products in tableware, cutlery and other gift articles.
