Jakarta : An undersea earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale shook Indonesia’s Bengkulu province Tuesday, prompting authorities to issue a tsunami alert.
The tremor was centred 159 km southwest of the provincial capital at a depth of 20 km beneath the sea level, according to the data released by the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency. The earthquake occurred at 10.43 a.m. local time (03.43 GMT).
