Kochi : Spectators at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here gasped in disbelief when local hero S. Sreesanth was hit on the helmet by a powerful straight drive from captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
But Sreesanth himself appreciated the blow and said in a lighter vein: “I needed the bang on my head”.
The cricketer added that he was fine but went for a precautionary scan Tuesday night. The results are still awaited.

Bedi lashes out at Indian board
Former captain Bishan Singh Bedi lashed out at the Indian cricket board’s ignorance while celebrating the country’s 75 years in Test cricket.
“It is pity that while the Indian cricket board should have celebrated 75 glorious years of Test cricket, it was celebrated by Castrol instead,” said the former India captain, at the Castrol Awards for Cricketing Excellence, held here Tuesday night.
The gala function was dedicated to India’s 75 years of Test cricket.

India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni skipped the 10th Castrol Awards for Cricketing Excellence, dedicated to the country’s 75 years of Test cricket, held here Tuesday night.
The Indian captain was officially invited but decided to stay away, probably to avoid media probes after the comprehensive loss to Australia in the second one-day international a few hours earlier.
