Three bomb attacks kill five civilians in Baghdad

Baghdad : A car bomb and two roadside bombs rocked the Iraqi capital on Thursday, leaving five civilians dead and 16 others wounded, an Interior Ministry source said.

A car bomb parked near the Garage al-Amanah intersection in eastern Baghdad, went off around midday, killing three civilians and wounding eight others, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast damaged several nearby civilian cars and buildings, the source added.

A roadside bomb explosion also targeted a U.S. patrol in Baghdad’s northeastern neighborhood of Ur, killing a civilian and injuring six others, along setting fire in four nearby civilian cars, according to the source.

It was unclear whether the U.S. patrol sustained any casualty as the troops immediately cordoned off the scene, said the source.

The U.S. military did not confirm the incident yet.

Another roadside bomb ripped through a KIA minibus in the Waziriyah neighborhood in northern Baghdad, killing a civilian and wounding two others, the source said.

Earlier in the day, a roadside bomb explosion near a minibus in Baghdad’s southern neighborhood of Za’faraniyah, killing three civilians and wounding seven others, the police said.
